Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve scoured Pinterest and countless design magazines and websites. You have ideas about how you want your room, kitchen, bathroom or entire house to look, so why hire a designer? Hiring a designer can not only make your ideas a reality but can also save you money, time and frustration, help keep you on budget, provide access to trusted service providers and provide access to furniture, fabrics and materials not available to the public.

A designer can save you money by helping you avoid costly mistakes (ordering the wrong size furniture, ordering furniture or furnishings that look great individually but not great together, or choosing the wrong paint colors, materials, or finishes). Designers also save you time and frustration by managing the project and guiding you through any obstacles or challenges. Finally, designers have spent years developing relationships with trusted service providers (architects, contractors, painters, electricians, plumbers, cabinetmakers, etc) and can provide you with sources for furniture, accessories and materials not readily available to the public.

Why hire an interior designer?

What is the design process like?

During our phone consultation, we gather as many details as possible about your project and your needs. We then book a consultation to see your space, listen to your ideas and requests, discuss the design process and provide you with direction for your project. We will email you a Design Proposal after the consultation, outlining the scope of work and the minimum estimated design fee. If you need help establishing an investment, we are happy to guide you through the process. Once the retainer on our design fee has been paid, that signals the start of the project, and we measure and document your spaces, gather trades to obtain quotes, and work on the overall design plan.

What’s included in the in-home consultation?

All design projects kick off with an in-home consultation. We charge a non-refundable fee of $350 for our 90-minute initial in home consultation. This is a working session where we will provide you with valuable and expert design ideas and information. We spend time getting to know you and the way that you live, looking at the possibilities for your spaces and discovering the best ideas and sources to help launch your project.

How do I begin my project?

We would be thrilled to chat with you! You can reach out to us through the ‘Get Started’ button on our website and book a free 30 minute discovery call. We are happy to answer your questions and give you an overview of our eight step design process.

While we have a ‘Casual West Coast meets Traditional East Coast’ aesthetic, we also enjoy the flexibility and ability to produce the right design for our clients. It is all a part of our dedication to creating a home that reflects our clients’ personalities and lifestyle.

Do you have a signature style?

Our minimum design fee for a full-service project is $3,000. Since each project is unique, we will prepare a Design Proposal for you after our initial consultation. We generally charge hourly, and estimate the total number of hours required to complete your project. You will be informed about the hours used during the design process. Some services can be billed at a flat fee and will be discussed on a per project basis.

What are your design fees?

Full-service interior design allows our studio to handle all of the details, from initial concept to the final installation. We take care of research, selection, purchasing, coordinating and installation so you can focus on the things that matter most to you. Full service can either be selected for a full room, a group of rooms or an entire home.
